Heya, the system now support logging in via OpenID.
What this means in practice is that instead of typing your password to log in, you can tie your account with an OpenID provider, and as long as you're logged in there, that service verifies that you're you. When you log in with a new OpenID, you get the choice of either creating a new account, or tying it with an existing one. You can also log in with your existing username and password, if you don't want to use / don't have OpenID. Just to give you a few examples of popular OpenID providers that are directly supported: * Yahoo * AOL * MyOpenID * LiveJournal * Wordpress.com * Blogger * Verisign * ClaimID * ClickPass If you have an account with ANY of those above, then you already have an OpenID provider. Google and Yahoo are especially easy to use, as it is just clicking the button, and you're logged in. If you have an OpenID at a provider not mentioned above, you can of course type in your own OpenID err.. ID directly and authenticate with that. Edit : Google can also be configured with Two factor authentication, which is a nice security feature |

Terrasque, I'm not a user of OpenID, but thank you anyway for all the work that must have been put into this "under the hood". Nectarine keeps getting better every day!

Koekenbakker, but now you can be! The next time a site asks you to register/login, you can pull out your super elite Necta OpenID card and swipe!
Thanks Terrasque. Pretty cool stuff. |
