Got a basic upload function working on my dev server.
You go to an artist, click on "upload song", write title and select file (and optionally write pouetid and additional info), and click upload. At the moment it have some restrictions: - You can only upload songs belonging to artists that currently exist. If you have a song from someone not on demovibes, you have to ask mods/admins to create that artist first. This shouldn't be too often, and will hopefully cut down on the dupe factor a bit. - It will be set to Uploaded status, and will be impossible to queue (or get djrandom to play) until it's been set to Active by an admin or mod. There is currently not implented any way to download or listen to a song before it's Active. I have been thinking of creating a download function (limited to x songs over y hours), but nothing tangible there yet. There have also been some musings about a flash player to "preview" songs.. But again, nothing tangible. What do you guys think of this? Does it seem like an ok way to do it? Of course, need to get some way to check a song before it's set to active, but kinda need that anyway Edit : Pushed the changes to the repo, incase arab wants to update |

Good implemention. =)
don't forget to mention the mp3 encoding parameters (192 kbps etc.). download feature? it may stress the bandwidth a lot... though Demovibes radio use stream relays. maybe you should look for mirrors? or just for originals (on TMA, AMP, HSVC etc.)? ALecs^BRS makes a service site to search for modules on popular mod storages, maybe it'll be helpful, too... http://www.demotunes.net/ |

Please don't make me ask everytime for a new artist. Since I often upload streaming music from the music compos this will be the case 80% of the time I upload something. This only delays things unneccessary.
By uploading a track with an unknown artists the request for adding him is included - why the two step solution if it can be done in one step? Since you admins always check a track before it is enabled I think it should be enough if someone can add a comment to an upload describing the demoscene relevance (link to the scene.org source for example). |

Just curious if you could remove the "uploaded by" from the detailed song page so no one gets a letter by a lawyer if he accidently uploaded a track that was copyrighted.

Just a note for us admins... We can now actually access the uploaded file... It's not for us to download every single mp3 from scenemusic.eu... Just... Don't do that. We don't want to make the server slower.
It's for us to verify newly uploaded songs. Monkey doings: * download song, verify encoding (320kb bitrate and joint stereo) * verify that it's the actual song (I dunno if we really have to do that, because it's really a hassle trying to find songs many times, but it's good if we actually do it) * verify what type the song is, since users when they upload one can't select those things Also here's some requests for us admins: * Somewhere in the admin system be able to see all songs with status uploaded in ascending order by datetime... cause right now, we really don't know which songs to verify unless users tells us themselves. |

A quick note: you can only download the uploaded songs Also if you list all songs under the admin menu, on the far right, you do have a selector. Just click on "Uploaded" |

" 403 Forbidden
Access to this resource on the server is denied!" When I try to listen do a song which has Uploaded status. I see, then I suggest making a 777 on the file when it's uploaded |

Depends on the permissions (owner) set on the song before you uploaded.

Problems:
1. We can't listen to the songs to confirm they indeed are the song specified in the info. 2. Even if we could, we might not know of the author or have access to the song, to actually confirm it's the real deal 3. This process is slow Suggestion 1. Auto-activate newly uploaded songs. Let us confirm the song by requesting it sometime and if it's junk, we simply set that person who uploaded the song to be unable to upload any more songs for a while. (or permanent) Suggestion 2. Okay here's my suggestion to ease things for us admins/moderators... Add an ajax button beside the songs which has status UPLOADED (like the (+) icon we have by songs we can request) and have that set status to active instead of having to in on every song and changing dropdown value then clicking save. for us with slower comps and browsers which tend to randomly crash when exposed to too much work. |

I already asked this in the song upload thread in the news section, but since it wasn't really answered there I try it here again.
Is it acceptable to upload tracks encoded with less than 128kbps? For example all YM Rockerz tracks on their web page are encoded at 96kbps if I'm not mistaken. |
